While laid up at BAKOPOULOS SHIPYARDS (Elefsis) for repairs, uncontrollable water ingress in the engine room and machinery spaces of the PASSENGER SHIP ‘AGIOS VASSILIOS’ was reported. Instructed by hers shipowners Messrs “CLYDESDALE SHIPPING CORPORATION”, POSEIDON was mobilized to avoid possible sinking of vessel as well as environmental pollution. Works included deployment of oil containment booms, regular visual inspections to check vessel’s hull condition, water-tightening of all suction and discharge openings, pumping out seawater from flooded compartments and finally cleaning and preserving main engines and affected machinery.
