Vessel had sustained extensive damages on her rudder, propeller and flat bottom following her grounding at Mermigia ledge (Salamis Island). Following instructions of Messrs “COSCO SHIPPING AGENCY”, POSEIDON was dispatched to the scene to prevent possible environmental pollution carry out hull repairs. Operation included deployment of booms, lightering of her cargo (steel I-beams) from No 4 Cargo Hold by the assistance of our FLOATING CRANE ‘‘VERGINA I’’, water tightening of cracks and reinforcement of her rudder by welding of horizontal and vertical brackets.
