During repairs at BIJELA SHIPYARDS in Montenegro, the 12.768DWT ballasted GENERAL CARGO SHIP ‘’MEXICA’’ partly sank & grounded on August 10th alongside the yard’s berth due to prevailing adverse weather conditions. As a result, the vessel partial flooded (engine room up to her No 3 hold part of). POSEIDON was subcontracted by the appointed salvors FIVE OCEANS SALVAGE to assist the refloating operation. Following a dive inspection performed in order to ascertain the vessel’s bottom condition, our diving team carried out patch up works, thereby sealing and securing all u/w openings and holes caused by her grounding but also forgotten by the yard workers. Sea waters were pumped out from flooded spaces by means of air pumps. The vessel was refloated and safely redelivered to her owners.
